Sterns Ideology
I think Steve Stern views Ideology in a very similar way to Conrad and Demarest. Theirs was entirely based upon the religions of the regions they studied. These religions dominated every aspect of their daily lives, and ultimately their deaths. Where as Conrad and Demarest focus on the ancestor worship within the Inca society is very similar to Stern to find an emphasis on kinship and family. The vast importance of the Aztec system that is formed around the idea of the impending apocalypse does not seem to relate to that of the Huamanga. They are much more like the Inca peoples who believed in an emphasis on family. although the Huamanga did not necessarily place the focus on the dead but rather the bond with the other living members of the family. Stern no doubt places an emphasis on some kind of ideology as it pertains to everyday functions within a society. Instead of the focus on the religious ideology there is instead an importance on the kinship within each family unit amongst the Huamanga.
